Desert Snake Terror: Pivana Snake Venom Becomes a Headache

The Pivana snake, found in the deserts of Rajasthan, has become a terror in the region. In the past five years, 210 victims of this snake's bite have been admitted to AIIMS Jodhpur. The venom of the Pivana snake is so deadly that even 200 injections have failed to neutralize it.

The medicines used to treat snake bites are ineffective against the Pivana snake's venom. This is because the antivenom used to treat snake bites is made from the venom of snakes found in southern India, which is much less potent than the venom of the Pivana snake. As a result, the antivenom is ineffective against the Pivana snake's venom.

Normally, when someone is bitten by a snake, they are given 5 to 10 injections of antivenom, which is enough to neutralize the venom. However, even after administering 150 to 200 injections, the venom of the Pivana snake is not being neutralized.

The Pivana snake bites its victims on the chest and releases its venom through its breath. This is why people in the desert regions of Rajasthan sleep on elevated platforms to avoid being bitten by the Pivana snake.

Conclusion-

The venom of the Pivana snake has become a major challenge, particularly in the desert regions of Rajasthan. The ineffectiveness of medicines against this snake's venom is putting people's lives at risk. Urgent action is needed to find a solution to this problem.
