The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has confirmed that the syllabus for the 2025-26 academic session remains unchanged from the rationalized curriculum of the previous years. This means no new chapters or topics have been deleted this year. Students preparing for the 2026 Board Examinations must continue to exclude the subjects, chapters, and sections previously removed by CBSE and NCERT.
Subject-Wise List of Major Deleted Topics
The following list details the most significant deletions across the core subjects, which will not be assessed in the 2026 Class 10 Board Exam:
1. Mathematics
The syllabus excludes several key areas, including a full chapter:
Full Chapter Removed:Constructions (Chapter 11 in the old NCERT book).
Key Topics Deleted:
Real Numbers:Euclid's division lemma.
Polynomials:Division algorithm for polynomials.
Pair of Linear Equations in Two Variables: Cross-multiplication method and simple problems on equations reducible to linear equations.
Triangles:Proofs of the four key theorems (including the ratio of areas of similar triangles and Pythagoras theorem).
Coordinate Geometry:Area of a triangle.
Trigonometry: Trigonometric ratios of complementary angles.
Surface Areas and Volumes:Frustum of a cone.
Statistics:Step deviation method for mean calculation and the Cumulative Frequency graph.
2. Science
Major deletions affect the Physics and Biology units, with two chapters completely removed:
Full Chapters Removed:Periodic Classification of Elements and Sources of Energy
Key Sections Deleted:
Carbon and its Compounds:Nomenclature of Carbon compounds and some chemical properties, including Ethanol and Ethanoic Acid.
Heredity and Evolution: The entire section on Evolution' is removed. Only the portion related to 'Heredity' remains in the curriculum.
3. Social Science (Social Studies)
The deletions are most noticeable in the Political Science and Geography textbooks:

Key Topics Deleted (Geography - Contemporary India–II):
Sections on the Impact of Globalization on Agriculture
Large portions of the Manufacturing Industries chapter (e.g., specific sub-sections on Cotton, Jute, Sugar, Iron and Steel, and Cement industries).
4. English (Language and Literature)
Deletions primarily affect the literature and specific grammar sections:
Prose (First Flight):The Hundred Dresses – I and The Hundred Dresses – II
Poem (First Flight):Animals
Prose (Footprints Without Feet): The Hack Driver.
Grammar Topics Deleted: Use of Passive Voice Noun Clauses, Adverb Clauses,Relative Clauses, and Prepositions.
Hindi (Course A - क्षितिज भाग 2 and कृतिका भाग 2)
Section: क्षितिज भाग 2 (काव्य खंड - Poetry)
Deleted Topics/Chapters: देव (Savaiyya, Kavitt), 'छाया मत छूना', 'कन्यादान'.
Section: क्षितिज भाग 2 (गद्य खंड - Prose)
Deleted Topics/Chapters: 'स्त्री शिक्षा के विरोधी कुतर्कों का खंडन', 'मानवीय करुणा की दिव्य चमक'.
Section: कृतिका भाग 2 (Supplementary Reader)
Deleted Topics/Chapters: 'एही ठैयाँ झुलनी हेरानी हो रामा', 'जॉर्ज पंचम की नाक'.
Recommendation
Students must strictly adhere to the latest 2025-26 official CBSE curriculum and the newest NCERT textbooks. Using older editions or reference guides without cross-checking the rationalized content may lead to wasted effort on topics that will not appear in the 2026 Board Examinations.
